It’s hard to believe that my last post was June 7th! I’ve had a very busy couple of weeks, and I’d love to share some of the fun things I things I did.
My blog friend, Mary, at Pile of Smiles shared that she was going to be away for a while. She was going on vacation to…Chicago. Really??? That’s my neck of the woods! I sent an email to see if she would like to meet with me for an hour or so. She graciously agreed to take the plunge!
We shared our love of coffee, and visited for more than an hour. Mary’s blog is well-named. She has a beautiful smile, and a beautiful love for her family and faith. I so enjoyed hearing about her family, and sharing mine too. It was like we’d known each other for a long, long time. I was so grateful for her adventurous spirit in meeting me!
Then it was time to get to the airport and fly out to see my son and his family. He and his wife recently had a new addition, our first grandson! We couldn’t wait to lay eyes on him, and spend time with their family.
As we flew in to the airport, we had a fabulous view of Mt. Rainier. We have flown into the Seattle/Tacoma airport before, but have not had the right weather or view to see it. It was gorgeous.
What a fun week we had visiting! My three week old grandson is a very kick-back, relaxed little guy. He eats like a champ, and is a happy snuggler.
We attended my granddaughter’s swimming class, brimming with life and squirmy two year olds. My son was a swimmer/water polo player in high school and college, so he wants to be sure his daughter knows her way around water. That girl can blow some bubbles!
My husband and I also went to her gym class, had dinner with my cousin and her family, and stayed with my nephew and his family for a few days. My daughter-in-law’s parents invited us to their house for dinner too. Such a lovely visit!
We came home on Wednesday. The next evening, my brother, sister-in-law and nephew came to stay with us. We also hosted my husband’s brother and friend. It was a busy weekend, and SO fun! My Dad was in his glory, spending time with us, his sons (he got a visit from three out of his four boys) and families on Father’s Day Weekend. We are blessed that he is still with us at the age of 90!
(This was taken in Florida at my Dad’s 90th birthday party.)
I’ve missed being here, and visiting all of you! It’ll be fun to get back into the writing swing again.
Fun news! I have an essay in the new Chicken Soup for the Soul book, “Inspiration for Nurses”. It will be available in bookstores and Amazon on July 21! Another wonderful reason to celebrate…
